The 2002 PAOC Retreat: Provincetown, MA

The faculty, graduate students, post-docs and staff of MIT’s Program in Atmospheres, Oceans, and Climate (PAOC) begin each year with a retreat generously supported by the Houghton Fund. The 2001 PAOC Retreat took place at the Provincetown Inn in Provincetown, MA over the weekend of October 4-6th.

This year about 100 people took part in talks, discussions and other activities in Provincetown, Massachusetts. On Saturday, Jerry McManus, Bill Curry and Carl Wunsch spoke to the group about "Glacial Ocean Circulation" during the paleoclimateology session, organized by Kerim Nisancioglu and Peter Huybers. The following day, Roger Summons, Penny Chisolm and Mick Follows led talks on biogeochemistry, assisted by Payal Parekh.
