"Telling Your Story Workshop", February 9, 2011 - EPS, Harvard
Several PAOC members participated in a "Telling Your Story" Workshop hosted by Phoebe Cohen and others. With the goal of promoting classroom teacher - scientist visits, the 5 hour workshop brought together local educators with graduate students and postdocs to seed relationships and foster increased interaction. On the agenda was a time for "speed-chatting", an opportunity for each teacher to pair up with a scientist and have them explain their work in under 5 minutes! There was also an activity centered around teachers helping scientists develop potential classroom activities around their areas of expertise as well as tips from teachers and educators on how to be effective in the classroom: Anyone who has had to share their research with a class of grade schoolers recently will appreciate the value of such uggets of wisdom!
