August 22nd, 2011 - An Evening of Astrobiology @ MIT

As part of the World's Beyond - The Search for Life in the Universe exhibition on display in MIT's Stata Center August 17th -19th and at the MIT Museum August 22nd - 28th, An Evening of Astrobiology @ MIT saw a night of talks, conversation, and hands-on activities that explore our search for life beyond Earth. This search, a field called astrobiology, incorporates many scientific disciplines from microbiology to geology to astrophysics. The evening featured short talks by Postdoctoral Fellow Florence Schubotz and Assistant Professor Taylor Perron from EAPS as well as a set of interactive exhibits that combined results from scientific investigations and current events in astrobiology with the enthusiasm and creativity of the exhibit’s creators – local teenagers and young adults.

Featured Speakers:

Florence Schubotz, Postdoctoral Fellow, Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences, MIT

Taylor Perron, Cecil & Ida Green Assistant Professor of Geology, Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences, MIT
