Raf Ferrari named new Director of PAOC

As Kerry Emanuel steps aside to focus on developing the new Lorenz Center, PAOC welcomes Raf Ferrari as its new Director.

Kerry Emanuel, who has chaired PAOC for almost four years, successfully oversaw a major space reorganization on floors 13-18 as well as instigating a thorough overhaul of the Program's website. In the words of new EAPS head Rob van der Hilst "Under [Kerry's] leadership the program has made great strides revitalizing research in atmospheric chemistry and climate".  

Raf Ferrari is an  oceanographer interested in the dynamics of the ocean and climate with active research efforts in the areas of atmospheric and oceanic turbulence, air-sea interactions, the energetics of the ocean circulation, the impact of ocean physics on biology, and questions of paleoclimate. Originally from Italy, he lives in Cambridge with his wife and young daughter.
