Ed Halligan

PAOC's new membership co-ordinator, Ed Halligan, has 5 years of experience as an MIT administrator: Since joining the Institute, Ed has worked in the Dean of Student Life’s Office of Student Mediation and Community Standards and the Office of Community Development and Substance Abuse. His most recent position was in the MIT Program in Art, Culture and Technology

Before coming to MIT, he worked for ten years in administration for the banking industry in Boston. His prior work experience includes working as a preservation planner and architectural historian in Boston where he helped to establish the Boston Preservation Alliance and was involved in campaigns to save the Wilbur Theater, the United Shoe Machinery Building, the Boston Stock Exchange and the Art Deco remnants of the Madison Hotel prior to its demolition. He has served as the Secretary of the New England Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians and the New England Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Classical America. He did his undergraduate work at Fordham University where he majored in Art History and Urban Studies and his graduate work at Cornell University in the Historic Preservation Planning Program. His outside interests include art and architecture, as well as classical music, physical fitness and outdoor activities. You can find Ed in 54-1614. His email is halligan@mit.edu.

Our thanks to Roberta Allard for stepping in when former co-ordinator Beth McEachran left: Questions about the Houghton Fund and reimbursment processing should now be directed to Ed Halligan.
