New dinosaur is the largest animal with countershading camouflage

New research published in the journal Cell from Roger Summons and others examines an exceptionally preserved nodosaurid ankylosaur dinosaur, revealing significant clues on predator-prey dynamics of Cretaceous animals, Chris Burns writes for Slash Gear. 

The new, armored dinosaur, Borealopelta markmitchelli, described in the paper was based on an exceptionally preserved specimen, which exhibited reddish-brown coloration and crypsis in the form of countershading. Crypsis indicates strong predation pressure on this large, heavily armored dinosaur.
