Andrew Davis

Andrew DavisWith term over and classes at an end, many in PAOC are heading out of town. While some are simply re-locating to WHOI for the summer, others are making trips farther afield. Andrew Davis, a grad. student interested in grounded ice sheets and attached ice shelves, is leaving on Saturday for a three week trip to Svalbard, Norway to attend the 2011 International Polar Year Field School. IPY-FS is an interdisciplinary program for 25 students from 11 different countries.  The students all have an interest in polar sciences and the course is designed to teach current research being done in arctic regions.  There will be a wide array of subjects from polar ecology to glaciology and meteorology. Follow Andrew's experience in his blog Adventures in Svalbard. Andrew's advisor is Patrick Heimbach.
