Research Description
The goal of my research is to understand the meridional overturning circulation and its role in controlling global climate. I am interested in both the dynamics of the wind-driven upwelling of the upper ocean and the mixing-driven upwelling of the abyssal ocean. I also am interested in how the overturning circulation controls fluxes of heat, carbon, and nutrients between the deep ocean and the surface, with implications for past, present, and future climates.
