MIT Observe

End-of-semester stargazing
Date Time Location
May 14th, 2015 8:30pm-9:30pm 37-roof
Updated Thu, 14 May, 10:30am: We are GO for tonight! The skies will continue to be clear and cold--bring a jacket.

Celebrate the end of the semester by re-connecting with the universe! Come to the roof of building 37 to view almost all of the naked-eye planets: Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn! Only Mars won't be on view, as it sets behind a building before sunset. We will use telescopes to view these impressive sights, plus others.

Take the elevator to the 6th floor of building 37, go left out of the elevator, look for the door on the left labeled "penthouse". Climb the spiral staircase to the roof, then another short flight of stairs to the observing platform.

If the weather is not clear, this session will be cancelled. I will post a go/no-go notice here by 5pm on Thursday.
