Analytical Theories of Surface-Intensified Vortex Drift

A general approach to analyzing an intense vortex evolution is
described based on a decomposition of the flow into an axisymmetric part
and a secondary circulation. Applications of using this approach will be
presented taking into account the beta-effect, background shear, deep
eddies and topography.
