Ever heard of Planetary Boundaries and wonder where it came from?

This revolutionary term was brought to you by internationally recognized scientist, Johan Rockström, and his critically important work on global sustainability issues. This Swedish native has spent decades researching and working on applied water research and building resilience in tropical regions world wide. He has also published over 100 research articles and four books that include his work on agriculture systems, land use, and ecosystem services.

Aside from his research, Dr. Rockström acts as an advisor to several governments, business networks, and international meetings (United Nations General Assemblies, World Economic Forums, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conferences). Dr. Rockström currently serves as the Director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre and is the recipient of many notable awards and achievements including: Sweden's Most Influential Person on the Environment in 2012 and 2013, the Woods Hole Research Center's Lawrence Huntington Environmental Prize in 2014, the International Cosmos Prize in 2015, the French Distinction Knight of the Legion of Honour in 2016, and many others.
