The Strait of Gibraltar: Maximal or Submaximal Exchange

Larry and his coauthors wade into an old debate concerning the exchange flow between the N. Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea through the Strait of Gibraltar. The controlled exchange can be 'maximal', implying a slow Mediterranean response to climate change. Or, the exchange can be 'submaximal', implying a rapid response. Larry will present evidence based on a new theory and a new state estimation of the flow in the Strait.
