12.141: Electron Microprobe Analysis
Date Time Location
January 17th, 2017 1:00pm-5:00pm 54-1221
The electron microprobe does chemical analysis at a micron-scale spatial resolution. Both events will be hands-on, and will be held in the microprobe lab. We will be discussing the theory and practice of x-ray microanalysis through wavelength and energy dispersive spectrometry (WDS and EDS), ZAF matrix corrections, and scanning electron imaging with back-scattered electron (BSE), secondary electron (SE), elemental X-rays with WDS and EDS, and cathodoluminescence (CL).

You will be required to complete assignments to earn credit. But listeners are welcome.

Please contact me if you are interested. You can also just show up in the lab (Room 54-1221) on the first day.
